Outbound Links
The Outbound Links tab shows where visitors go when they leave your site. Snow captures these clicks automatically, then groups them by destination so you can see what attracts attention beyond your own pages.
What Snow captures
The tracker records clicks on:
- External websites whose hostname differs from the current page.
- File downloads for common document, archive, media, image, app, and data file extensions.
- Email links that use
mailto:. - Phone links that use
tel:.
Same-site navigation, page anchors, JavaScript URLs, and other non-destination links are not included.
Outbound link tracking is enabled by default and needs no extra code beyond the standard tracking snippet.
Read the report
Each destination shows its total clicks and visitors for the selected date range. The longest bar marks the most-clicked destination, making relative volume easy to compare.
Select a destination to expand the list of pages where visitors clicked it. This helps answer questions such as:
- Which article sends the most visitors to a partner?
- Which page drives the most PDF downloads?
- Where do visitors click an email or phone link?
Use the search field when the report contains many destinations. Snow shows the most-clicked destinations first and lets you reveal more in batches.
Date range and filters
Outbound Links follows the date range in the dashboard header. Dashboard filters do not currently change this report.
Hits from paths covered by an exclusion rule do not appear in the report.
Turn tracking on or off
Open Settings → Tracking → Outbound link tracking and use the switch. Turning it off stops new outbound click events from being accepted. It does not remove clicks already recorded.
